Insomnia Squad

Last Night/his early morning I had the honor of joining in authorship in a blog with several other late nighters like myself.  This blog and the collection of talent that is working on it is known as the Insomnisquad.  This has the potential to be the coolest thing I have ever worked on internet wise.  The idea and leader is our fearless squad commander Leah D'Emilio from a little website you might know as Mahalo Daily.  It isn't not so often that yours truly gets to be grouped with such an interesting and beautiful, not to mention talented woman, so I jumped on it in the first twitter I saw about it.  Well that’s all in this post about it go check it outhhh http://www.insomnisquad.blogspot.com

In honor of the insomnisquad this post person is none other than the Squad Commander Leah D'Emilio.  As stated before she is lovely and talented.  You can find her work on Mahalo Daily as well as her blog The Dealio with D'Emilio, this week in youtube with Lon Harris.  She is also a good soul who recently worked with several others to help get clean drinking water for people that did not have it.  She was a huge part of the Los Angeles Twestival, and I have a feeling she will be blogging from Australia soon.

Here is most of her many links:

Oh and squad commander I am doing my best to promote you so you can get to Australia so I better get some swag when you get the job JK

You can do magic

This is the second of three posts for tonight.  Yeah I know I am sporadic, but I had some stuff going on and if I put it all as one post it would be overwhelmingly large.

So last night I saw a magician, or should I say illusionist.  This guy was superstar quality.  To some of you that live in a big city or seen a show in Vegas you are saying to yourself "wow is this guy easily impressed or what?"  Well here is something to ponder for you.  iJustine has twice as many followers on twitter as my town has people, and I have also seen some excellent illusions by Cris Angel, so yes I may be from a small town and easily impressed at times, but I have also seen some great magic.  This guy is named Tobias and let me give you a rundown on his two coolest tricks I saw. Granted I caught the last 15 minutes of his act.

First impressive trick was one he does every time he performs there judging by the room.  It is a complex series of sleight of hand card tricks which involves switching cards out a person's hand while holding them as the initial set up.  He had a girl hold the ace of spades and he had the ace of clubs.  He then slid the ace of clubs on top of the ace of spades and had her and a few others check.  He then talked a bit and asked her what cards she was holding.  She answered both black aces and he asked if she was sure, she said yes and then he showed in his hand that he was holding both ace of clubs and ace of spades.  She flipped her hand to show it was the ace of hearts and the ace of diamonds. Now this was impressive considering that the girl was a regular at the restaurant so I am sure she is not associated with the show since this guy has only been there the last couple of weeks compared to her couple years.

He then said since she had a hard time keeping her cards (he had made her the mark of most of his card tricks) he had her write her name on any card.  She did and he did some cool minor shuffling tricks both in slow and fast motion.  putting the card mystically on top of the deck etc.  Your normal street magic card tricks.  He then ended with a really impressive move when he threw the whole deck of cards to the ceiling and the one with her name stuck while the rest fell to the floor.

His best trick was when he took a hundred dollar bill and had one person at the bar right down several random things that other people around picked. He had a guy pick a number (7) I picked an animal (zebra) someone else picked a state (South Dakota) etc; he then folded the bill into a super tiny rolled up tiny mini cylinder.  He then brought out a bag and had the girl hold the bag and another guy holding it as well feeling if anything was in there.  He then put the bill in there.  After a few seconds of talking he showed that the only thing in the bag was a lemon.  Great people thought he made the 100 vanish and replaced it with a lemon that was already behind the bar.  Tobias then said he wasn't done as he cut the lemon in half and had the lady pull out the 100 with all the random words from the bar from inside the lemon.

I have never been so amazed by sleight of hand close up before.  I was less than 5 feet away watching this guy's hands the entire time and I still got took like everyone else.  So to Tobias I dedicate the song by America "You Can Do Magic"

Speaking of magic I want to take a moment to talk about this installment of people I post about.

Her name is Alexandra Gibson CEO of Gibson Design Management.  She is a real sweetheart.  She is very intelligent and at the top of her game when it comes to her field.  She specializes in the networking of Interior Designers, and if you are an interior designer or looking for one she is the best person on the web to contact in my opinion.  You can find her at

Does love lower the ability of logic

Do Relationships make us less intelligent? Judging by some of our behavior we do out of love or misconceived notions thereof would suggest that being with someone does indeed damage your brain cells.  Now this isn't me pointing a hypocritical finger at anyone, because my own unique case of brain numbing love actions shall be discussed here as well.

Let’s look at case #1 for people's sake I will just call this girl Kay. Kay was a girl that I met on twitter after I posted a message and she said she had felt the same way about what I said.  We talked on aim a few times and she told me about her situation.  You see Kay and her boyfriend had broken up over six months ago but they still lived together and shared a bedroom no less.  Kay clung to some hope of salvaging her past relationship while he lay next to her dirty talking and flirting with other girls on the phone.  She would post internet updates that they were cuddling or laying together and he would become furious at her, because she was trying to ruin what he had with other girls, yet she still lives with him today.

Here is where the story gets really funny to me.  Kay has a guy that she likes back home in another state and when her live in ex isn't around it is him that she is posting status messages about.  Well Kay told me that she was looking for a new place to live, but got enraged like the hulk and refuses to talk to me after I told her that it is probably best for her not to jump out of an emotionally draining relationship and chase after some guy in another state.  She even literally said "Why not?"  Ironically after a couple of nights posting about the cowboy, and not even 24 hours after she went apartment shopping because she couldn't stand her mistreatment anymore she is back posting status messages about her "horrible" ex and what they are doing together.

Case #2 is no other than yours truly XM.  When thinking about how feelings for someone have caused me to act stupid it is hard to narrow it down to one specific time.  There is so erhm scratch that there are too many times I am guilty as charged.  I've written cheesy love songs by request I have been in fist fights, I have seen so many terrible movies, things that I would never do otherwise, well except for the song part.

If you ask people that I talk to on the internet I am mostly a relaxed, fun, flirty individual.  If you are a girl and my friend you might find a little nice @ reply on twitter or an e-mail that I send for the sole purpose of making you smile.  For some of my favorite people who shall remain nameless I throw out a random "you are gorgeous" well because it is true, they don't hear it enough, and I think it makes them feel good for just a minute even if it is a crappy day.  Mostly I am calculated and keep my distance.  I say nice things but I am always respectful of my friends and do my best not to cross any lines.  I am methodical by nature I plan moves ahead of moves, I prepare for every social situation.  I always know what I should say. I am empathetic of people and I really make an effort to connect.  I try to always stay level headed and rational.

To cut this self appreciative nonsense short the point is when I have feelings for someone all of that personality disappears it is as the person I described the previous paragraph never existed.  I become brash, impulsive, I jump to conclusions, and I dive headfirst sometimes.  I don't think before what I say.  Sometimes that presents with some beautiful poetic moments that the girls from my past that don't hate me remind me of from time to time.  However most of it just winds up putting me in trouble.  I go from being the guy that has the answers to the guy that has insecurities and questions.  Love is my kryptonite it leaves me weak.

The strange thing is I realize these things about myself obviously, yet to quote Meat Loaf here "I would do anything for love” Well almost anything anyway.  Again that shows people's silliness that would do anything for love honestly.  People have killed for it, ate bugs, gone on reality TV with Flava Flav for 3 seasons, get rejected by Flav and get 2 seasons of their own love search.  Hell even the Trojan War was started over Helen "the woman who has such beauty that it launched 1000 ships"

Well in conclusion clearly I am just bitter and single = )  I know when I find someone I will be brash and impulsive once again.  I look forward to it; maybe I am crazy, or a glutton for punishment or something else who knows

PS I am starting a new little mini segment about people on the internet that I find interesting.  I sort of started it with Tahlia last weekend; today I am highlighting someone dear to my heart Sarah @wood.

Now Sarah can be considered as my favorite person on twitter.  She always posts something that makes me laugh, she is gorgeous, but mostly she is really cool and down to earth.  She does some cool videos like a week in her life, but she keeps it real and works hard at a real job as well.  Her followers are thousands but she always answers her mail.  Follow her on twitter, and give her some nerdtainment.  I try to at least, but I epic phail her on that.

So here is my internet salute to you my friend.

E harmony free weekend, fun with friends, single, and Tahlia rocks

Well contrary to what this title might make you think I did not sign up for e harmony because I was single and lonely.  Well I guess now I am sort of single and unloved, but when I was checking out this free weekend I was still semi attached.  Last weekend in honor of all those who were alone on the day of "flying babies with heart piercing arrows with love potion #9 on them "  Dr Warren and the good folks of e harmony decided to open their hearts and their service so you could find someone to shoot with your arrows for free until the end of President's Day.  You know nothing says love like Honest Abe.

My best buddy just broke up with someone so he decided to give EH a shot.  I have another friend who got one of his only dates from there so I decided I would see what all the hub bub was about just so I would have something to blog about. And hey if I found my Jessica Alba in that sea of fish then more power to me, but I am a realist and I do live in a small California town.

Long story short it is sort of expensive if you were going to use it and I don't think it does anything that you couldn't do on your own on another site or *gasp* in real life.  E harmony just makes you jump through hoops to sign up and  jump through hoops to communicate.

You have to send these multiple choice questions, then answer their questions, then read their must haves, then send your must haves, this is followed by another round of short answer questions and if you haven't got frustrated with the wait then you can send an original non guided e mail and wait for them to approve reading it.  Oh not to mention they pick your matches so you don't even get to pick who you talk to yourself.  I control my own destiny not cupid or Dr Warren and the E harmony super computer.  If you really want to use an online dating site try another one a friend told me to check  plentyoffish.com it's free its quite large and fairly simple to use.

Seemingly as a signal of my coming status I have finally come to the conclusion that I need to let go of my situation and the girl who ties me to it.  I really care for her, but I can't do this fighting and worrying all the time anymore.  She is a great girl and I wish her the best.  If you read this just know that I don't blame you for whats going on with us I understand I really do.  I held on so long because when we first met she said she was broken, and I told her that I didn't care that I would always be there for her.  I didn't realize that I had to chose between breaking my word or breaking my heart.  Well for the last month it hasn't been my word getting broken.  However I figured that I can always be here to support her but distance myself otherwise at least for the time being.  I will always care for her but we both need space and some much deserved happiness.

On a happier note with this off and on again thing I have had time to reconnect with Greg, Mark, Nick, and Steven once again.  This started when Mark invited me to his Super Bowl party last month.  Greg, Mark, Nick, Steven and I have known eachother since Junior High/High School.  We have had our ups and downs and inside outs but they are decent good people and that is a rare find these days.  From drama class and school plays to 4am Denny's runs we have done a lot together it is good to be in contact with them and laughing for a change.  They have introduced me to a guy named Darren and a game called Zombies.  I pick on Darren a lot but he is a good guy to and I like him.  He has to pay his dues and he has at least ten years of crap that he missed out on from us for joining us this late in life.  If you read this dude your sentence is up and I will spread the sarcasm to the whole group now = D.

Zombies is a board game by Twilight Creations where you play a survivor in the zombie apocolaypse and you have to either survive and make it to the helipad or you have to kill a certain number of zombies or kill all zombies however you decide to play.  Google it if you want more info its pretty simple and fun especially when you have 6 people.

Finally I want to take a minute to talk about someone I met on twitter named Tahlia.  What an amazing girl she has turned out to be.  I won't give out her info because yea she's hot enough that she has one e stalker she doesn't need more.  I had a very long conversation with her on msn today and she and I have a lot in common more than the original liking of Final Fantasy IV on DS.  She isn't the first friend that Final Fantasy IV has brought but she definately is the prettiest and the easiest to talk to.  I know she reads this so I just wanted her to know that yea you rock and I appreciate our twitter messages back and forth.  I promised to not spoil final fantasy IV but all bets are off on Resident Evil 5

Until then anyone that reads this thanks....Be safe....

pretty good videos. Since you are at blogspot anyway.

Can't sleep

Wow I just read the list of the "19 Most Overrated Game Franchises of All Time"
http://old-wizard.com/top-10-most-overrated-video-game-franchises/2
Thats the link for that.....

I completely disagree with a good number of titles on his list,  the author seems to be a Nintendo fanboy and only seems to reference Zelda or RPGs for examples of what a game should be. He bashes my favorite series Resident Evil; as well as God of War both of which are amazing.  He tears GTA apart and I don't understand how the best selling console title Grand Theft Auto can be considered overrated.  If it is millions of people buying a product then the product is successful not overhyped or overrated.

Not much goin on in my life just spent a day with my friends and fighting with my on/off again pseudo relationship. The friends were great, fighting with her not so much.  She doesn't understand why I could be upset that she gave her number out to some guy that she used to barely know in junior high when she randomly ran into him. Perhaps I overreact but I think it was disrespectful and highly inappropriate to do when you are with the person you say that you want.  I don't know where we will go from here, it sadly has been a rocky few weeks between us.  I really like her but I do not know if we can work these things out.

Well lastly here is an update on my Final Fantasy run

I thought January was for new beginnings

Well in true procrasinator fashion I guess I even started off the whole "New Year, new me" a tad bit late.  Well this week I started going to the gym.  I started Monday and have gone three times so far I plan on 5 days a week minimum.  I also decided to take an extended break from World of Warcraft possibly a permanent one.   I need to focus on my health, getting in good shape, and all of that.  Ironically since I have quit WoW it seems like I have so much free time.  I don't have a raid schedule.  So I will post a semi regular joke list of things I have done since I quit WoW.

Here we start:

What I've Done Since I Left Azzeroth
Completed full clear of 20th Anniversary Final Fantasy for PSP
Lost 2lbs,
Walked 6 miles
Saw my friends
